Hayleys Agriculture launches OMNIX Digital System to transform farmer engagement and modernise agriculture practices

HJS Condiments Limited, Sri Lanka’s largest processed fruits and vegetables exporter and a member of the Hayleys Group, has launched the OMNIX Digital System, a groundbreaking platform that modernises farmer engagement, streamlines operations, and strengthens traceability across the agricultural value chain.

The initiative, developed in partnership with the Hayleys Group Digital Transformation Team under the ongoing Hayleys Digital DNA transformation programme, directly benefits approximately 12,500 gherkin farmers supplying to HJS Condiments across over 350 crop collection centres and 20+ agricultural projects nationwide.

By turning decision-making from reactive to data-driven, the platform has the potential to strengthen Sri Lanka’s competitiveness in global agriculture exports, particularly in value-added and high demand crops like gherkins, which are supplied to some of the world’s leading food brands.

Until recently, key functions such as farmer registration, input issuance, crop collection and payments were managed through semi-automated processes. While this approach had served the industry for decades, it limited speed, efficiency and visibility across the value chain.

“Through Hayleys Digital DNA, we are reshaping entire value chains with scalable, future-ready solutions,” said Jayanthi Dharmasena, Managing Director of Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Limited.

“By digitising critical functions, Hayleys Agriculture has brought greater accuracy, faster transactions and real-time insights, benefiting both farmers and the businesses while advancing its commitment to improving lives through digital transformation. OMNIX sets a new benchmark for Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector in line with the national digital economy agenda.”

OMNIX addresses these pain points systematically across seven core areas. First, the digital solution introduces a centralised farmer registration system and database, creating a single source of truth for all interactions. This ensures better traceability, transparency and accountability across the supply chain.

With the ability to record item issuance and crop collection in real-time, both farmers and the company benefit from greater accuracy and efficiency. This reduces delays and ensures that the quality and quantity of produce are captured instantly.

Rolling forecasting tools enhance planning and allow for more accurate production scheduling. By anticipating demand and aligning supply, the system reduces wastage while helping farmers maximise yields.
