Rural Outgrower Programme

Gherkins grown by a small family in a rural village of Sri Lanka ending up in a burger served by a global giant in New York may seems like a thing of the future when it comes to CSR initiatives. However, that is exactly what we at Hayleys have achieved. Our “Out Grower” program, which started with humble beginnings, today has reached global highest winning the recognition of programs such as USAID.
Forest Replanting Program (FRP)

Twenty-seven estates spanning 13,000 hectares of land, spread over the three agro-climatic regions of Nuwara Eliya/Dickoya and Yatiyantota/Bulathkohupitiya, under almost equal extents of tea and rubber – this constitutes the Kelani Valley Plantations (KVPL) portfolio.
Go Green

MIT Cargo’s ‘Go Green’ programme comprises four main initiatives, i.e. ‘Recycling of polythene,’ ‘Food waste,’ ‘Paper collection’ and ‘Drive Green’. The Company also plans to introduce several more elements to the programme in the future.
Firstlight

Moving away from the norm of the business community of providing donations that fail to sustain and uplift the living standards of its beneficiaries, Hayleys has directly tied its CSR initiatives to the company supply chain that link the communities. “Firstlight” is one such initiatives undertaken by the company that continue to prosper the “People” who are involved , while providing sustainable “Profit” to all the stake holders, without compromising the fragile eco systems of our beloved “Planet”.
Puritas Sath Diyawara

This project under the banner “Puritas Sath Diyawara” is the key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative undertaken by the Hayleys Group at a cost of Rs. 21 million covering a total of six villages in the financial year 2014/2015.
Puritas (Pvt) Ltd commissioned its first Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in D10 Maithreepura, Padaviya under their CSR project, ‘Puritas Sath Diyawara’ on the 15th of August 2014 and later commissioned the opening of three more plants on the 10th of March 2015.
Funded, designed and constructed by the Haycarb group, under the guidance of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, this plant will provide purified potable water for approximately 5000 villagers in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. This will directly contribute to the efforts to mitigate the spread of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in the area and uplift the socio-economic conditions of the people of that region.
